A civil partnership may be found to be void in the following circumstances:
- the parties are ineligible to register as civil partners;
- the correct formalities had not been followed;
A civil partnership may be found to be voidable in the following circumstances:
- lack of consent;
- either party suffers from a mental health disorder so as to be unfit for civil partnership;
- at the time of the civil partnership the respondent was pregnant by another person
